Barry County Sheriff's deputies responded to calls in Shell Knob and Exeter over the weekend and made several arrests.
On Saturday morning, Sheriff Mick Epperly and deputies Kevin Myers and Mike Adcock responded to a residence on Farm Road 1240 in Shell Knob after receiving a call that a man was making threats to burn down his home and another person's home.
When officers arrived at the residence, they observed a large fire in the driveway and women's clothing scattered across the yard. They also noticed that the tires on a Jeep parked in the driveway were flat, and the front door of the home was standing open.
Adcock and Myers moved to the side exits of the home, and Epperly approached the front of the residence. As he neared the home, Epperly saw Tony James Tipton, of Shell Knob, lying on the couch asleep.
After contacting Adcock and Myers to assist, Epperly entered the front of the house and arrested Tipton without incident.
The Barry County Sheriff's Department received consent to search from a woman living at the residence. During the search, the officers discovered a glass pipe on Tipton and a baggie holding a substance consistent with methamphetamine. Myers photographed the scene.
Tipton, who was on probation, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony. He is being held in the Barry County Jail on a $20,000 cash only bond.
The Barry County Sheriff's Department also responded to a call of a domestic in progress at Farm Road 1057 in Exeter at 11:28 a.m. on Saturday.
Deputy Myers responded, and when he arrived at the scene, he observed a man walking down the railroad tracks carrying a large hunting knife. Myers also saw the man hold the knife to his throat.
Myers gave verbal commands for the man to put the knife down, but when Adcock and Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Travis Hilburn arrived to assist, the man fled and dropped the knife before he reached the home.
All three officers were needed to control the man when he became combative and resisted arrest.
Dusty Lee Jordan, 22, was wanted on a probation violation warrant. Charges are currently pending for assault on a law enforcement officer.
