The Monett Intermediate honor choir consists of 40 auditioned members. Students in the choir are pictured above. The Monett Intermediate School honor choir is a group of 40 fifth and sixth grade students. The choir, directed by Rachael Murad, is comprised of members from an initial audition of 70 students.
The honor choir students learn to be in a vocal ensemble and perform choral pieces that are written in two-part harmony. They have several opportunities throughout the year to audition and perform solos. They meet once a week for one hour.
The Monett honor choir performed a holiday concert and went on tour at Lacoba, Monett Senior Center and Benchmark in December 2011.
On March 30, the choir went to Drury University in Springfield.
The choir will perform a concert at 6:30 p.m. on April 12 at the Monett Middle School auditorium. Murad will be presenting awards for attendance and outstanding musicianship.
The group will go on spring tour on Friday, April 13 to Lacoba, Monett Senior Center and Benchmark Healthcare.
