Monett Middle School and Missouri State University will host a Parents and Abstinence Education class from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 16 at the Monett Middle School. The instructor will be Dr. Amy Meriweather. For more information or to register, call Rebecca Gaines at 235-0960.

The Monett Kiwanis Club will meet at noon on Tuesday, April 17 at Happy House Restaurant in Monett. Mark Nelson, chairman of the TIF commission, will be the guest speaker.

The Tyson Foods "Crowin' For a Cure" Relay for Life team will host the ninth annual chicken dinner from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 in the south parking lot of Tyson Foods in Monett at the intersection of Kyler and County Streets. The cost is $5 per plate.

The City of Pierce City will hold its annual city-wide garage sale on Saturday, April 14. There will be no maps and people must put up their own signs. For more information, call 417-476-2323.

The VFW Post #4207 will host a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18 at the Post, located west of Monett on Highway 60. The menu will include a hot open-faced turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad, dessert, tea or coffee. The cost is $6.

The Kings Prairie Special Road District commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 at Grant's Restaurant in Monett.

The 24th annual Missouri's largest garage sale, sponsored by the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce and the Neosho Daily News, will be held on Saturday, April 14. The event will begin at 7 a.m. and will be held rain or shine. Maps will be available by 5 a.m. on the day of the sale at most Neosho convenience stores and restaurants. Barry County Youth Camp is currently accepting donations for shoes, swim suits, shorts and tops for children, ages 7 to 10. Donations can be dropped off at Bremer Machine Shop in Monett, located at 202 Seventh St. or call 235-3211 or 235-3929.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday, April 16 in the fellowship hall at Monett First Freewill Baptist Church, located on the corner of Central and Sycamore Streets.

"Night with the Stars" dinner, dance and auction will be held on Saturday, April 14 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. A social and a silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the meal will be served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 per couple or $20 for one. Proceeds will benefit St. Lawrence Catholic School.
