Broadway Nights is a tax-free event

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Broadway Nights returns to downtown Monett on Friday. At least nine stores will participate with extended hours and live entertainment.

The April Broadway Nights will bring back the "tax free" shopping opportunity in honor of federal income taxes being due on Monday. Merchants will cover the sales tax on all purchases made.

For the first Broadway Nights of 2012, merchants have inventory for the spring and summer. Fashion Crossroads has fashions in vibrant colors, and Peppers and Company has scarves, flip flops, switch flops and shoes, prom jewelry and accessories.

The Trunk has lots of summer and play wear, Miss-Me jeans and shorts plus some items on sale.

Westco has a new line of Serta bedding, including the I-Comfort gel memory foam beds. Owner Steve Kelley said customers can lay away recliners for Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Bruner's Pharmacy has gift ideas for graduation from Hallmark. Hallmark's "Blooming Expressions" are a new line of floral gifts ideal for shut-ins, and the Chesapeake Bay candle line is available at special introductory prices. Reed diffusers are available in different fragrances.

Depending on the weather, some merchandise may be available in a sidewalk sale display.

Memories Photos, formerly Connie's Photography, will waive the $35 sitting fee for the night and offer studio set shots for a standard deposit.

Live entertainment is planned at Mocha Jo's and Denali Dreams coffee shops after 7 p.m.

Broadway Nights offers an old-fashioned night on the town, organized by merchants to offer extended-hour shopping and a chance to gather with friends for the evening.
