Contestants sought for LC youth fair pageant

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Young ladies between the ages of 8 and 22, who reside in Lawrence County, are invited to compete in the Lawrence County Youth Fair (LCYF) Queen, Princess and Lil' Princess Pageant. The event will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 13 at Norma's Inline Fashions in Aurora.

The three age divisions are: queen, ages 17-22; princess, ages 13-16; and lil' princess, ages 8-12. Judging categories will include evening gown, impromptu questions, poise and confidence and talent. Talent is optional for princess and lil' princess contestants, but is mandatory for all queen contestants. Talent may include a speech, singing, instrumental solo, dance, painting, baton and photography.

The queen, princess and lil' princess must be available during the 2-12 Lawrence County Youth Fair on June 1 through June 3 at the Freistatt Lions Club grounds. They will assist the board and represent LCYF at various functions throughout the year. The winner of the queen title will represent Lawrence County at the 2012 Missouri State Fair in Sedalia in August.

Applications must be submitted by May 1. They can be picked up and dropped off at Norma's Inline Fashions in Aurora, the University of Missouri Extension office in Mt. Vernon or from Janella Spencer. Entry fee is $25.
