Monett Cubs wrestling youth shine at state tournament

The Monett youth wrestling club qualified 24 individuals for the state tournament in Columbia. Twenty-four Monett youth travelled to Columbia to compete in the Missouri USA Wrestling Championship.

Over 1,000 Missouri youths representing 147 wrestling clubs participated at the state championship. Monett's 24 qualifiers were the fourth most in the tournament.

To qualify for state, wrestlers had to place in the top four at regional tournaments across the state. To receive a medal at state, wrestlers needed to place in the top six of their bracket.

Monett wrestlers medaling in Columbia were: Tanner Wright, Harrison Merriman, Angel Villalta, Gabe Pryor, Ben Cole and Ian Meyer.
