Galena man killed in crash near Shell Knob

A Galena man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:13 p.m. on Tuesday on Highway 76 about seven miles northeast of Shell Knob.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the driver of a 2003 Ford F250, Kenneth E. Boyd, 51, of Galena, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Boyd was killed in the crash. The body was taken to Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.

A passenger in the vehicle, Christy D. Carroll, 34, of Lampe, was taken to Cox Hospital South in Springfield with serious injuries. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

This is Troop D's 17th fatality crash for the year.

Other wrecks

* One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday on Highway 90 about two miles west of Washburn. The crash occurred when the driver of a 1990 Toyota Corolla, Zackery B. Williams, 22, of Anderson, slid across the center line and struck a 2002 Ford F150, driven by Tommy R. Fielding, 60, of Washburn, head on. Williams was taken to Mercy Hospital in Cassville with moderate injuries. Williams was not wearing a seat belt, Fielding was.
