Irma Minnie Flowers, age 94, of Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett, Mo., passed away at 11:44 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo. Irma was born on Feb. 21, 1918 in Monett, the daughter of Fred William Meyer and Alma Helen (Lampe) Meyer.

She had worked in the accounting department for Safeway Grocery in Fort Worth, Texas for over 20 years. Irma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. She was involved in the Lutheran Braille Workers and L.W.M.L. "Ladies Aid" both in Texas and Freistatt. She was a member of the Freistatt Friendship Club and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Irma married W.C. "Bill" Flowers on June 11, 1943 in Freistatt. They were blessed with over 68 years together. He survives.

Additional survivors include one brother: Raymond Meyer and his wife, Betty, of San Jose, Calif.; one sister: Lorna Flowers, of Springfield, Mo.; two sisters-in-law: Helen Barnes, of Galena, Kan. and Janice Meyer, of Monett; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred W. and Alma Meyer; one brother, Arthur Meyer; three sisters, Vera Tate, Della Ruth Meyer and Orba Meyer; two brothers-in-law, John D. Tate and Charles Rex Flowers; and one niece, Joanna Tate.

Funeral services for Mrs. Flowers will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Freistatt. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel. Interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Lutheran Radio Broadcast or the Lutheran Braille Workers in care of the funeral home.
