Athletes named to Academic All-State teams

Monett, Pierce City, Purdy and Southwest softball squads were named to the Missouri State Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association Academic All-State honor rolls this week.

The Missouri State Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association recognizes student athletes and teams for their academic success in the classroom by awarding an Academic All-State award to both teams and individual student athletes.

A team is awarded the distinction of an Academic All-State squad if all players on the varsity team have a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher.

An individual athlete qualifies for the Academic All-State first team if they have a cumulative grade point average after the fall semester of 3.88 to 4.0. An individual athlete qualifies for the second team if they have a cumulative grade point average at the end of the fall semester of 3.75 to3.87.

Monett

Monett softball players earning first team honors were: Josee Krueger and Brooke Burnside. Second team: Raigan Ratliff, Cassidy Franke, Kelsey Wiseman, Allie Krueger and Kendall Bounous.

Pierce City

Pierce City softball players earning first team honors were: Sara Stearns, Jade Winsea, Emily Ashley, Mckenzie Moreland and Bailee Hayward. Second team: Makina Kelley, Brittany Young and Monica Sexton.

Purdy

Purdy softball players earning first team honors were: Addy Roller, Rachael Neill, Kristyn Cornman and Jayse Henderson.

The team's combined grade point average was 3.63.

Southwest

Southwest softball players earning first team honors were: Brittany Miles and Teresa Birkeland. Second team: Sarah Conley and Courtney Morgaw.

The team's combined grade point average was 3.50.

Monett wrestling

Monett wrestlers Chase Brennan and Chris Renteria were named to the Missouri Wrestling Association Academic All-State team.

Individual athletes qualifies for the Academic All-State team if they have a cumulative grade point average after the fall semester of 3.5 or higher.
