Monett youth qualify for wrestling championship

The Monett Youth Wrestling Club competed in the Missouri USA Wrestling State Series District 5 Championships in Neosho last weekend.

Thirty-six Monett wrestlers participated in the event with 33 Cubs advanceing to the Region C Championship in Ozark on Saturday.

Results for the wrestling Cubs were as follows:

Monett tournament champions were: Ethan Umfleet, Tanner Wright, Harrison Merriman, Ian Jackson, Matthew Bahl, Ashton Massardo, Gabriel Pryor, Sean Jastal, Ian Meyer and Carlos Cordova.

Wrestling Cubs earning second place: Karter Brink, Joseph Semerad, Gunnar Bradley, Junior Villa and Josh Bahl.

Third place honors went to: Wesley Merriman, Clayton Cordova, Chase Moore, Brody Crawford, Garin Cole, Angle Villalta, Dillon Welch, Eric Welch and Jorden Henson.

Fourth place finishers were: Blaine Garver, Kristofer Cloud, Elias Barrientos, Hunter Pyle and Garrett Bradley.

Fifth place qualifiers were: Aiden Pina, Jace Stow, Cole Davis, and Ryan Welch.

Wrestlers who place in the top four at the regional championship advance to the Missouri USA State Championships March 23 in Columbia.
