Rose Mary Gripka, 60, formally of Pierce City, Mo., passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla. She was born on June 22, 1951, in Springfield, Mo., to the late William (W.T.) and Loretta Carlin.

She was united in marriage to Charles E. Gripka on May 9, 1980, who survives at their home. Since her early retirement due to breast cancer, Rose and Chuck have resided in Grey, Tenn., Charlestown, W.Va., and, finally, Ocala, Fla.

She was an active member of The Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, volunteering her time and talent to the church and its thrift store as well as being an active member of the Red Hat Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Richard Schultz and Ray Bowman.

Other survivors include three daughters: Denise A. Gripka, stationed in Bluffton, S.C.; Deanna L. Herron and her husband, Nathan A. Herron, of Jefferson City, Mo.; and Lori L. Dunmire, also of Jefferson City, MO; eight grandchildren, Tiara and Tarin Gripka of Bluffton, S.C., Cailey Garoutte, Keaton, Kamryn, and Kynsie Herron, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Geoffrey and Sydney Dunmire, also of Jefferson City, Mo.; one sister: Bernadette (Bernie) Carlin, of Springfield, Mo.; and two brothers: Gene Schultz, of Neosho, Mo. and Danny Bowman, of Kansas City, Mo.

A rosary service with visitation to follow will be held on Monday, March 12, 2012, at 6 p.m. at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, Mo. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, Mo. and burial services will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with Father Peter officiating.
