Edith L. Vinson, age 83, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly of Monett, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. following a short illness.

Edith was born on April 16, 1928 in Monett, daughter of the late John McDunner and Ruby (Blankenship) McDunner. She was a graduate of Monett High School and had worked as a bank teller at the First National Bank in Monett until her retirement.

Edith was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Monett before moving to Broken Arrow.

On Aug. 11, 1946 in Pittsburg, Kan., Edith McDunner and Charles E. Vinson, Jr. were united in marriage. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Morris McDunner; and three sisters, Gretchen Covel, Lucille Planchon and Helen Wilks. Edith is survived by one son: John Vinson and his wife, Linda, of Broken Arrow; three grandchildren: Jana Spencer and her husband, Kameron; Kimberly Fairchild and her husband, Jeremy; and Chris Vinson and fiancée, Kristie Holman; four great-grandchildren: Carson Spencer, Kylan Fairchild, Taryn Fairchild and Ryanne Spencer.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Monett. Reverend Charlene Dart will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to Christ United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
