The structural steel is now in place for the new Pierce City Middle School, located in front of the 1922 structure it is replacing.

According to Mike Smith, project foreman for Rich Kramer Construction, crews will finish placing the metal stud framing on the second floor by the end of the week. Sheeting will follow on the outside walls to enclose the structure.

Smith said the metal roof deck will be finished this week. A parapet wall will be added on the extension at right that will cover the heating and air conditioning units on the roof. In another week crews should be ready to install the membrane for the roof.

When the bricks arrive in the next few weeks, the walls will be built all the way to the roof. Smith said the project continues on schedule.
