The annual induction ceremony for Monett High School's National Honor Society chapter will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13 in the high school commons.
To be eligible for membership consideration, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 9.0. Potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service and character. Members of the junior and senior classes were evaluated by the faculty council for NHS membership.
Leadership is based on the students' participation in community or school activities or election to an office. To meet the service requirement, the student must have been active in projects in the school and community. Character is measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics and cooperation with both students and faculty.
Students are screened by a faculty council consisting of five high school teachers.
A description of the selection process is available upon request in the high school principal's office. This year, 46 students are being considered for membership.
