C.K. "Kenny" Bowman, age 84, of Freistatt, Mo., passed away on Friday evening, Feb. 24, 2012 at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center in Mt. Vernon, Mo., due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Nov. 18, 2011. Kenny was born on Aug. 22, 1927 in Barry County, Mo., the son of Ernest and Ruth (Stanley) Bowman.

He had attended school in Cassville, Mo. before serving his country in the Army during World War II. Kenny was an avid fisherman at Beaver Lake. He didn't mind telling someone that they were in his favorite fishing hole. He also enjoyed deer hunting with his kids and grandkids.

Kenny was an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Micro Turn Company, starting his business 49 years ago in his garage then moving to a building in Monett. He later relocated the business to Freistatt to be closer to home. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church, north of Monett.

On Feb. 8, 1963, Kenny married Norma Balmas. They were blessed with over 49 years together. Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; one son: Ronald Eugene Bowman; one daughter: Pam Schoen and husband, Fred, of Freistatt; three brothers: Ernest Eugene, Ray and Jim Bowman; and one sister: Nadine Cornelius; two grandchildren: Michelle (Schoen) Kist and husband, William, of Eden Prairie, Minn. and Marcus Schoen and wife, Sandra, of Monett; five great-grandchildren: Christian, Ethan and Henry Kist and Parker and Halle Schoen; and three nephews: Lance Scott, of Monett; Edward Lee Bowman, of Seligman, Mo. and Justin Bowman, of the state of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruth Bowman; one brother, Howard Bowman; and one sister, Maxine Scott.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012 at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Craven and Bill Young officiating. Interment will be in Kings Prairie Cemetery near Monett. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
