Two Spring River Valley Conference schools have dismissed head coaches within the last seven days.
Last Monday, McAuley Catholic High School fired Athletic Director Chuck Williams for what was termed by McAuley High School principal Gene Koester as a "personnel issue."
In addition to his duties as athletic director, Williams served as the head coach of the boys basketball, football and golf teams.
Williams was in his fourth season at McAuley. Assistant boys basketball coach Shawn Rogers has assumed the head coaching responsibilities for the remainder of the season.
On Thursday, Diamond High School released head basketball coach Josh Cook from his teaching and coaching positions.
The Wildcats compiled a 40-9 record under Cook in his two seasons at the helm. This year, Diamond has a 23-2 record which secured the team a three seed in the Class 3, District 12 tournament in Mt. Vernon. Cook also served as the volleyball coach, where he led the Lady Wildcats to a 24-3-2 record and district runner-up honors.
Earlier in the week, Cook had turned in his resignation that was to be effective at the end of the school year. After a special meeting of the Diamond School Board on Thursday evening, Cook's employment was terminated immediately
Assistant coach Brandon Rabel was named as interim coach in Cook's absence.
