Violet Maxine Gilliam, 82, of Monett, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012 at Benchmark Health Care in Monett. She was born on April 20, 1929 in Joplin, the daughter of the late Richard and Pearl (Messer) Tingle. She was united in marriage on May 22, 1949 in Joplin, to Marvin Gilliam, he preceded her in death on October 18, 2011.
She was retired from Walmart in Monett and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Monett.
Violet is survived by two sons: Richard Gilliam, of Lake Havasau, Ariz. and Gregory Gilliam, of Monett; two daughters: Loretta Adkins, of Opopka, Fla. and Renae McDonald, of Golden City, Mo.; one sister: Ruby Smith, of Joplin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both her parents: Richard and Pearl and husband, Marvin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Services will be on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. Jimmie Copley officiating. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
