The Dorcas Ladies Aid met on Feb. 2 in the fellowship hall at Trinity Lutheran School. Judy Lehde, president, called the meeting to order and gave the welcome to 19 members and one guest.
The Christian Growth Committee presented the worship and program. The program was entitled "P.R.A.Y.E.R." The service was divided into six parts: praise, remember, ask, yield, excitement and rejoicing. The readers were Connie Prater, Doris Meyer and Shirley Brandt. Several songs were sung, and the program closed with the singing of "Serve the Lord with Gladness," accompanied by Brandt, pianist.
The mission committee report was presented. Lena Bremer thanked 13 ladies who helped tack the quilts on the Jan. 16 work day. There were 10 quilts finished, and five more are ready to be tacked and hemmed. Two quilts were given to a family in Mt. Vernon who lost its home in a fire.
The buying committee reported that money was given in honor of Velma Koenemann for the purchase of a six-foot table to be used in the fellowship hall for serving coffee and tea.
A birthday card was signed for Irma Flowers, and a sympathy card was signed for Anne Telschow.
The birthday song was sung for Nadine Obermann, Irma Flowers and Ruth Nelson.
Ethel Helmkamp gave a bookmark and a card to the parents of Elsey Jack Schmutz who was baptized on Jan. 8. Lehde reported that she and Jeannie Holle-Stoltz will visit in February.
A motion was made to send Connie Prater and Edith Harmon to the LWML convention in St. Charles in June as delegates. The motion was seconded and carried.
Brandt brought items to be put in the archives for the Ladies Aid. Among the items were a pulpit cloth from 1920 made by Anna Bernthal and Ladies Aid photos from 1921 and the 1940s.
Osterloh requested that everyone bring their Winter Quarterly to the March meeting.
Hostesses for the February meeting were Meyer and Lehde.
