Carthage-Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction 2/22/12

Thursday, February 23, 2012

Receipts: 1003 Last Week: 930 Last Year: 1635

Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold 1.00-3.00 lower with high-
dressing cows declining the most and slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher.
As the national cow herd has declined to the lowest level in sixty years,
several additional slaughter buyers have come to this area to fill their needs.
Several herd dispersals included in the offering provided some good quality bred
cows and pairs and demand continues to increase for the take-home cows. Supply
was moderate and demand very good for slaughter classes.
