3D Corporate Solutions is subject of recent Monett Kiwanis program

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Operations of Monett-based 3D Corporate Solutions were detailed by Greg Drollinger, marketing director, at last week's meeting of the Monett Kiwanis Club.

Founded in August 2002 by Ed Mareth and Kevin Keeling, 3D Corporate Solutions has its administrative office in the former Jumping-Jacks plant at 601 N. 13th St. in Monett. The company is a value-added pet food ingredient business. Its name refers to "three dimensional," specifically product, production and logistics.

In the past 10 years, 3D Corporate Solutions has grown to a team of 200 professionals. Production plants are located in Joplin and in Georgia and Arkansas. Each plant is a stand-alone operation. Some deal with meat-based products and others in vegetable elements.

The company provides ingredients to the top 10 pet food manufacturers in the nation, including Science Diet. Both the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) are heavily involved in the manufacturing process. Drollinger said stringent controls are in place for pet food.

USDA-inspected chicken is used to make the meals and fats. Chicken, turkey, duck and venison, as well as other gently processed proteins, such as eggs, are used as ingredients, as well as other fresh and specialty products.

"By having access to large quantities of pet food ingredients, 3D is able to provide companies with necessary proteins and fats when and where they are needed," Drollinger said. "3D's services also insure that pet food companies do not have to invest time and resources in obtaining critical ingredients."

The company catalogue provides detailed menus, protein, fat and moisture percentages and packaging information. Some products come in frozen 40- or 50-pound blocks and others in 2,000-pound totes.

Around 100 million Americans have pets, Drollinger said, more than any other country, second only to Europe. Eighty percent of people consider their pets to be extended members of the family, and 70 percent of pet owners buy gifts for their pets.

The mission of 3D Corporate Solutions is to provide the highest quality ingredients. Company leaders are knowledgeable in the field and control the quality of the product until the time it is shipped to buyers who use the ingredients in their products.

A dedicated team focuses on new product development and uses in-house labs and state-of-the-art equipment for experimentation and analysis. The firm manages all facets of contract programs for suppliers and manufacturers to assure they will meet their commitments and financial goals.

The pet food business is the fastest growing market in America, Drollinger said.

Drollinger said 3D Corporate Solutions is a faith-based and employee-owned firm. He said people remain the company's top priority, and that there is no substitute for hard work.

`Drollinger was introduced by program chairman Ron Overeem. Kiwanis President Eric Kean presided at the meeting.

The Monett Kiwanis Club meetings at noon on Tuesdays, usually at Happy House restaurant.
