John Foland

John O. Foland, age 73 of Jenkins, Mo. left this world and his loved ones on Feb.10, 2012.

He leaves behind Sadonna Foland, his loving wife of 56 years; his daughter Cynthia and her husband, Steve Tennant, of Hanford, Calif.; a daughter, Lynette Davey, of Cassville; a son, Patrick L. Foland and his wife, Pamela, of Purdy.

He also leaves behind his precious grandchildren: Joshua and Kaitlan Foland, of Purdy, Mo., David and John Tennant, of Hanford, Calif., Laurie Gonzalez, of Jackson, Mich., and two great granddaughters: Amber and Mia Tennant.

John was born in Okmulgee, Okla. in 1938 and he was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie (Hensley) and Oliver Foland, his twin brother, Dub and younger brother, Jerry.

At 17 years of age, John Foland enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served honorably for 10 years aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. Upon leaving the Navy he joined federal civil service as writer, newspaper editor, photographer and Public Information Specialist until his retirement to Missouri in 1987.

He loved literature of all sorts, and he also loved fishing, but his time was best spent with family and close friends. He loved life and will be dearly missed by us all.

Cremation arrangements were held at White Funeral Home in Cassville.
