The Marionville Lady Comets rocketed past Monett for a 55-24 victory Tuesday night.
"We started slow," said Monett coach Derrek Uhl. "I thought we did battle back in the second quarter. We weren't able to sustain the run. I thought we played hard the whole game, and I was proud of the girls' effort."
Monett trailed 18-4 after the first period and 34-13 at halftime.
Scoring for the Lady Cubs were: Hunter Glouse, 8; Raigan Ratliff, 5; Faith Schmidt and Cheryl Barnes, 4 each; Allie Krueger, 2; and Brooke Madison, 1.
Monett dropped the junior varsity game 23-7 to the Lady Comets.
Brooke Burnside scored 5 points and Megan added 2 points for Monett.
The Lady Cubs host East Newton on Thursday night for their last home game of the season. Seniors Nicollette Fellwock, Jessica Schmidt, Hunter Glouse and manager Jeff Craft will be honored before the start of the varsity game. Tipoff for the jayvee contest is set for 6 p.m.
