Cattle are stolen from area farm

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are searching for thieves that struck two rural Lawrence County farms sometime between Feb. 11 and Feb. 12.

The thefts occurred within a mile of each other on Highway H just north of Monett.

The first incident involved the theft of a 20-foot aluminum goose-neck trailer that was identified with the Rockin' R brand.

The second theft occurred less than a mile away where six show cattle were stolen. They included an 800-pound female black Brangus, an 800-pound female black brindle and four Brangus heifers.

"We are working with the Highway Patrol on these thefts because, so many times, cattle are taken across county and state lines," said Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay.

DeLay said investigators have no suspects at this time but continue to develop leads in the case.

Those having information concerning the thefts are asked to contact the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department at 417-466-2131.

The Barry-Lawrence Chapter of Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to the arrest of those wanted for felony crimes.

Tips may be submitted by calling 354-TIPS (8477) or toll-free at 1-888-635-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may remain anonymous.
