Get text alerts from the sheriff

Friday, February 10, 2012

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office is now offering a new feature on its website. Citizens can now sign up to receive text alerts to their mobile phones when a change is made to the sheriff's office website.

"E-mail alerts have been a part of the website for some time," said Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay. "Now instead of having to check your e-mail for new information, that information can be sent directly to your cell phone, as well as information such as new press releases, the daily inmate roster and registered sex offenders, and more can now be received through texts."

The new feature was added to increase citizen awareness of the daily operations of the sheriff's office and provide necessary information to citizens and victims alike.

To sign up for this new feature, visit the website at www.lawrencecosheriff.com and click on the "sign up for alert" tab near the top left of the page. Users will have to provide a cell phone number along with cell phone carrier and then click to submit the information. Residents may also sign up for e-mail alerts through the same portal.
