Alecia Caldwell, of Nixa, won the 2012 Mocha Jo's Idol contest on Saturday night at the downtown Monett coffee shop. The talented singer performed "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perry and "Beauty in You," a piece she wrote herself in honor of her older sister.

Other finalists who competed in the two-song format finale were Sharon Vore, Brendon George, David Warren, Austin LeMaster and Angela Bennett.

Judges for the final night of competition were Robin Braun, Matt Lee and Chris Jones.

"Everybody did a good job, but we were all in agreement that Alecia was the most consistent in all her pieces and had a marketable quality to her voice." said Braun. "Alecia may have won the contest, but all the performers did a excellent job."

Contestants were judged on musical ability (60 percent), stage presence (30 percent) and song arrangement (10 percent).

As the Idol winner, Caldwell received Mocha Jo's coffee, a coffee mug and a gift card, and she will have her name placed permanently on the Mocha Jo's Idol plaque that is displayed on the wall in Mocha Jo's. Previous winners of the contest include Whitney

Dahlstrom and Katy Moon.
