"I thought we played well enough to win on the defensive side of the ball," said Monett coach Ty Goetz. "Offensively, we couldn't buy a bucket. Diamond did a good job of disrupting our flow and forced us to take hurried shots."

The two basketball squads played to an 8-8 tie after one quarter of play. Diamond outscored Monett 15 to 12 in the second period to take a 23-20 advantage into halftime.
The Cubs shooting woes returned in the third period as the Wildcats outpaced Monett 14 to 8 to lead 34-28 heading into the fourth.
Jared Huffman led Diamond in scoring with 25 points. Kyle Herman added 12 points.
Scoring for Monett were: Tyler Green, 12; Jacob Fair, 9; Kyle Woods 8; Jarred Witt, 6; Travis Thompson, 4; Aaron Patton, 3; and Dillon Freudenthal, 2.
