Johnnie Morris Simpson, 89, of Jasper, Mo., formerly of Purdy, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at his home. He was born on July 10, 1922 in Butterfield, Mo., the son of the late Barney and Mabel (Taylor) Simpson. He was united in marriage on June 21, 1946 in Columbus, Kan. to Jewel Pryor. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2010.
He was a farmer and served in the Army during World War II. He was a member or the Church of God Holiness in Carthage.
Johnnie is survived by two sons: Brian Simpson and wife, Stella, of Jasper and Tracy Simpson and wife, Lorene, of Lamar; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jewell, and both his parents: Barney and Mabel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Mo. Services will be on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett with Rev. John Poff officiating. Burial will follow services at Arnhart Cemetery in Purdy, Mo.
