The Monett City Council has five items scheduled for emergency consideration at the January regular meeting on Friday.
Council members plan to terminate the lease with Shawn Hines for the gymnastics center at 2150 Park St. In other action, a lease agreement is scheduled to be signed with the Workforce Investment Board of Southwest Missouri for the Monett Community Building at 100 S. Maple.
A change order with Southard Construction is scheduled for action as part of the water line extension project.
Council members will also declare certain city equipment as surplus property, making it available for sale by closed bid. A discussion and possible action are planned on an alternate retirement benefits option for city employees through the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System.
Two new bills will be introduced. One will add false declarations and failure to appear into the city's criminal code. A new proposal will be made concerning the extension of water and sewer mains and service lines outside the city limits.
Bills will be paid for the month. Mayor Jim Orr will ask department heads to update the council on activities during the past and coming month.
The meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. in council chambers at Monett City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
