Pierce City's Colin Garner drained a 15-foot jump shot as time expired to help the Eagles secure a 43-42 victory Tuesday night over College Heights.
"The boys did a good job of digging deep and getting a big win tonight," said Pierce City coach Matt Street. "We are a very young team. Anytime you can earn a win when you have to erase a deficit, it helps your team build confidence."
Pierce City led 17-13 after one quarter of play, but the Cougars rallied in the second period, outscoring the Eagles 11 to 8 to lead 25-24 at the break.
College Heights extended its advantage in the third period to 40-28 with five seconds left when a Kole Kelly 3-pointer narrowed the margin to 40-31 entering the fourth quarter.
Evan Belk scored 11 points to lead College Heights.
Scoring for Pierce City were: Kelly, 14; Zack Hyde, 10; Cody Fitchpatrick, 9; Garner, 7; and Colton Drollinger, 3.
The Eagles host Seneca on Tuesday. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m.
