Road district election filings are very sparse

Friday, January 13, 2012

Very few people have filed for open positions on road district commissions in the bi-county area.

No one has yet filed for the open three-year seat on the Verona Benefit Special Road District. The open seat is presently held by Allen Carr.

Incumbents have filed for re-election in the other nearby Lawrence County road districts. Seeking re-election are Mike O'Hara in the Pierce Benefit Special Road District, Herman Lehde in the Freistatt Special Road District and Don Kleiboeker in the Mt. Pleasant Benefit Special Road District, north of Pierce City.

No candidates have filed in three of the six nearby Barry County road districts. Vacancies remain in the Kings Prairie Special Road District, where Ron Campbell is the incumbent, in Capps Creek, where Robert Presley now holds the seat, and in the Corsicana Special Road District, where Emmanuel Berry is the incumbent.

Bill Medlin Sr. filed for re-election to the Monett Special Road District. Robert McKee has filed for another term on the Pleasant Ridge Special Road District.

A contest has emerged in the Purdy Special Road District, where incumbent Gary Rickman is being challenged by Randy Wormington.
