Dining for Diabetes celebrates 10 years

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Cox Monett Hospital's Dining for Diabetes, one of the area's most popular and successful fundraisers, will celebrate its 10th year this month.

"Hooray for Hollywood" is the theme for the dinner and auction, which will be hosted by a talented and ethusiastic crew of "celebrity" waiters and waitresses on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Pierce City Armory. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner served at 6:30 p.m.

The money raised from Dining for Diabetes provides diabetes education classes, counseling, medicine, and supplies to people with diabetes who have Medicaid, or do not have insurance. Last year, a record $24,000 was raised during the event.

Celebrity servers for the 10th anniversary dinner include: Sharon Ridenour, Jeanne Ann Camp, Pam Sligar, Megan Shaner, Mary Stluka, Karon Hawkins, Debbie Blinzler, Naty Apostol, Carole Heller, Missi Miller, Glenda Hemphill, Judy Scheihing, Paula Launius, Ed Mareth, Mark and Lauren Holland, Becky Eggleston, Bob and Debbie Berger, David and Lou Ellen Honeycutt, Susan Butterworth, Shane and Ashley Anderson, Mike and Phyllis Garrett, Leonard Witt, Lisa Wolf, Cheryl Reynolds, Brad and Heather Gripka and Chloe Ridgley.

The delicious meal, including a salad, smoked chicken breast, baked potato, roasted summer vegetables, non-alcoholic dessert shots and a beverage, will be catered by the Cox Monett Food and Nutrition Services Department.

Following the meal, there will be a live auction along with a 50/50 drawing. A silent auction is also held in conjunction with the event.
