Springfield, MO- Livestock Marketing Center: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 1/09/2012

Tuesday, January 10, 2012

Receipts: 840 Last Week: 331 Last Year: 525

Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows sold 1.00-2.00 lower and slaughter
bulls sold steady. Unusually warm weather and dry conditions since the first of
the year have made it ideal for producers to sort and move cattle, resulting in
higher receipts which has put slight downward pressure on slaughter cow prices.
Several dispersals were included in the offering and provided some quality bred
cows and cow/calf pairs. Demand was very good for those dispersal cows. Supply
was heavy and demand moderate for slaughter classes.
