January is a month that can be balmy one day and snowy the next. January Calendar Girl Laramie Ellis sits in one of the pine trees at Monett's South Park that will be green no matter what the weather. [Times Photo by Murray Bishoff]
The January Calendar Girl is Laramie Ellis, daughter of Maya and James Ellis. Laramie has been a busy senior at Monett High School. She is vice president of the National Forensic League speech and debate chapter, taking first place is district competition in poetry and second place in Congress.

She is a member of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, Book Club and Thespians, appearing in the fall play. She is a UNICEF volunteer ambassador and a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Laramie has two cats, Socks and L'il Bit, is a nature lover, participates in the environmental movement, enjoys acting, singing, debating, watching baseball and talking politics. She has two sisters, Elizabeth and Katherine.

Next fall Laramie plans to attend a four-year university and major in journalism and humanities. Her goal is to travel and join the Peace Corps.
