Two Barry County children participated in the annual Jingle Bell run, walk and 5K on Dec. 10 in Springfield to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation.

Both Jake Tharp, a third grader at Central Park Elementary in Monett, and Payton Crumpler, a second grader at Purdy Elementary, have juvenile arthritis and formed a team of participants who walked the 5K in their honor.

Jake was presented with the award for top individual fundraiser for raising over $1,000 for the cause. Through donations and fundraisers, Jake's and Payton's team made their goal of raising $2,000.

Jake is the son of Mike and Amy Tharp, of Monett, and Payton is the daughter of Sasha Crumpler, of Purdy, and Boyce Crumpler, of Cassville.
