A Christmas prayer

On behalf of the entire Monett Times staff, I want to wish our readers a very Merry Christmas. It is our hope and prayer that you will be spending the holiday with people you love and that you will carve out time in all the busyness to focus on the real reason for the season -- the birth of a savior, Jesus Christ.

As my Christmas gift to you, I'd like to share a simple prayer that I have written down and tucked into my Bible. I'm not sure who to attribute it to, but I believe it is one of those "anonymous" writings. I hope these words bring you peace and inspiration as we head into 2012.

"May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of us."
