The Pierce City Eagles throttled McAuley 60-44 in Spring River Valley Conference play on Friday night.
"We played our best all-around game of the season," said Pierce City coach Matt Street. "We had our young guys step up and contribute points, pressure and provide valuable minutes. I was really encouraged. We did a good job on the boards and picked up a nice victory."
The Warriors and Eagles were deadlocked at 13-13 after one quarter of play, but Pierce City outscored McAuley 16-9 in the second quarter. The Eagles added to the lead in the third quarter and outperformed McAuley 20-16 in the final period.
Zack Hyde led Pierce City in scoring with 17 points. Colin Garner and Kole Kelley chipped in 15 points apiece. Wayne Joe Sooter added 8 points. Colton Drollinger contributed 3 points, and Ian Brottlund finished with 2 points.
Pierce City will be in action at East Newton Monday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
