Virginia Grace Hoggett passed away from this life to her heavenly home on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at her home in Vinita, Okla., with family by her side.
She was born in rural Monett on May 5, 1926, to Edward and Lynna Gaydou, who preceded her in death.
She was baptized in Center Creek near Pierce City as a young girl and was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, rural Pierce City, and attended First Baptist Church in Vinita, Okla.
She met her husband, Earl, when he came home on leave from the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and they married on Nov. 30, 1945. They made their first home on a farm in rural Pierce City. When they moved to Tulsa, Okla., for 44 years and then to Vinita, Okla., for 15 years, their hearts were always at the farm in Missouri, spending time with Virginia's loving in-laws, Mida and Joe Hoggett and other family.
Virginia retired after 25 years from Murphy Switch in Tulsa, Okla.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne Bussey and husband, Ray, of Vinita, Okla.; one grandson, Jerrod Ray Bussey of Jenks, Okla.; one granddaughter, Regina Lynn Magnon, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three great-grandchildren, Raylee Ann Bussey, Kyle Jerrod Bussey and Chloe Grace Magnon; half-sister, Maurine Williams of Texhoma, Okla.; sisters-in-law, Willa Mae Gaydou of Birch Run, Mich., and Dora Gaydou of Carthage; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
Funeral services will be held on at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 23, at Lakin Funeral Home with Pastor Skip McClain officiating.
Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Monett.
Pallbearers will be Jerrod Bussey, Harold Ledford, Ellis Gaydou, Gary Gaydou, Gary Wampler and David Shaw.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home and Vinita, Okla., arrangements are under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita, Okla.
