Athletes named to All-State team

Even though the football season is over in Missouri, area football players continue to rack up honors and recognition.

Monett's Kurran Blamey was named to the Associated Press All-State third team as a wide receiver. He also was honored as an All-District first team selection.

Monett had 11 players name to the All-District team. Selected for the second team were: Aaron Hall, running back; Jeff Craft, offensive lineman; and Matt Schiffner, tight end. Honorable mention recognition went to: Jared Childress, offensive lineman; Tyler Green, wide receiver; Craft, defensive lineman; Reese Bounous, defensive end; Carter Huffmaster, linebacker; Matt Murphy, linebacker; and Zach Swearingen, defensive back.

Pierce City's Zack Crouch was an Associated Press All-State first team offensive lineman selection.

The Big 8 Conference was well represented on the AP All-State team. The conference had 13 All-State selections and one Coach of the Year honoree. A complete list of the All-State selections can be found at www.monett-times.com.
