Joanne was a 1944 graduate of Pierce City High School and graduated in 1947 from Christian College in Columbia, Mo. She married Harold Jack George on Dec. 28, 1947 at the First Congregational Church in Pierce City.
Joanne and her husband, Jack, were long-time business owners in Pierce City. Over the years she was very involved with the First Congregational Church, the Educational Club, the Business and Professional Women, the Chamber of Commerce and the Library Board. Her most enjoyed times were spent with family, whether it be holiday gatherings, birthday celebrations, weekends at the lake, beach vacations in Florida or summer days spent by the pool. Her family was her pride and joy.
Survivors include her husband, Jack; four children: Janene Kipers and husband, Gary; Jim George and wife, Betty; Julie Garner and husband, Bryce, all of Pierce City; John George and wife Ramona, of Rogersville, Mo.; five grandchildren: Jeremy George, of Pierce City; Jason George and wife, Erin, of Clinton, Iowa; Kris Stoker and wife, Sabrina, of Fayetteville, Ark.; Annie Arrant and husband, Matt, of North Richland Hills, Texas; and Jenny Garner, of Pierce City; six great-grandchildren: Cooper and Adyson George, Lilly and Benjamin Stoker, Ellery and Jack George and a very special cousin, James (Jim) S. Moore, of Pierce City.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 at the First Congregational Church, of Pierce City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17 at the First Congregational Church in Pierce City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Pierce City, Mo.
