Candle-lighting service supports families after loss of a child

Friday, December 9, 2011

The Monett community will join The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting project supporting families after the loss of a child.

Held annually, this special candle-lighting service unites family and friends around the globe as they light candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause.

The Monett observance will be held Sunday, Dec. 11 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, located at 1600 N. Central. The service will include readings, songs and a time to share comments or remembrances for anyone who wishes, as those attending light candles and remember children who have died but will never be forgotten. A reception will be held following the service for family and friends to visit and continue supporting each other.

To ensure that a loved one is remembered during this candle lighting service, contact Ronda Pachner at pocknock19@sbglobal.net, Robert and Vicky McGuire at 235-3333 or e-mail rmcguire@monett.k12.mo.us or Vicki Himes at vhimes@jackhenry.com.

Anyone wishing to participate but unable to attend may do so by lighting a candle for one hour beginning at 5 p.m. on Dec. 11.
