Aldermen with the City of Verona are looking to invest in the community by possibly implementing a retirement plan for city employees.
The decision to invest in a cost study by the Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) for the city's two full-time employees was made at a special meeting held on Nov. 29.
Representatives from Lagers will be at the next regular meeting of the Verona City Council to present information to aldermen regarding the program.
In other business, aldermen approved hiring Christina Marcum as a part-time police officer at a wage of $8 per hour for 28 hours a week pending a background check.
The next regular meeting of the Verona City Council will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at City Hall.
