Ken Gillig and twin daughters Brittany and Ashley, of Aurora, were honored by the Southwest Missouri Beef Cattlemen's Association during its annual meeting Nov. 14 in Springfield.
The Gillig family received the association's Seedstock Producer of the Year recognition.
The family operates a purebred Angus operation and has consigned 43 bulls to the all-breed bull sale since October 2001, according to Eldon Cole, a livestock specialist with University of Missouri Extension.
"In addition to raising excellent bulls, all three have been active supporters of the sales since their father and grandfather, Kenneth Gillig, served as sale manager for 70 sales beginning with the first one in 1973. Kenneth received the same award in 1981," said Cole.
The annual recognition began in 1976 for both seedstock and commercial producers who excel in performance and leadership on behalf of genetic improvement of beef cattle in southwest Missouri.
