The Verona Wildcats basketball team won its third consecutive game with a 73-34 victory over Exeter.

The Wildcats improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Ozark 7 Conference play.

"We are starting to gel and play some good basketball," said Verona coach Brad Stewart. "We can't be content with our quick start. We have started to figure out our identity on both ends of the floor and are playing well."

Verona jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Exeter's Austin Johnson trey briefly ended the run. The Wildcats outscored the Tigers 23-7 in the first period. Verona took a 49-17 lead into halftime and extended the advantage to 68-25 after three quarters of play.

"We are attacking better on offense," said Stewart. "We will have to refocus for a big game on Friday."

Wesley Kissinger led Verona with 29 points. Nick Washam added 18 points. Cody Ernsberger contributed 17 points. Larry Patterson recorded 4 points. Dalton Miller chipped in 3 points. Brent Downs tallied 2 points, and Seth Losack added 1 point.

Verona travels to Wheaton on Friday night. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
