Criminal justice scholarships available

Barry County Sheriff Mick Epperly has announced applications for the John Dennis Scholarship, available to criminal justice majors, are now being accepted.

The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to 16 college-bound Missouri high school seniors who intend to pursue a career in criminal justice and will be attending a Missouri university or college.

Applicants must be in good standing with their school, have a good reference from their school counselor, demonstrate a financial need and have a 2.0 grade point average or higher. Applicants must be active in extracurricular activities and provide a paragraph, attached to their application, outlining their goals 10 years after high school graduation.

Applications must be submitted by Jan. 31, 2012.
