Monett police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision and a possible fire at 3:18 p.m. on Wednesday at Highway 60 and Chapell Drive in Monett.

According to the Monett Police Department, an eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup, shown above, continued through the traffic light after the light had turned, having the view blocked by a parallel tractor trailer. A southbound Trans Am collided with the front end of the pickup.

Powder disbursed by an inflating air bag in the pickup prompted the initial report of a possible fire.

The accident resulted in a passenger in the pickup receiving injuries and being taken to Cox Monett Hospital for treatment. A ticket was issued to the pickup driver for violating a red light.
