Carthage - Joplin Regional Stockyards: Cow and Bull Auction Close for 11/23/11

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 higher and
slaughter bulls sold 2.00 higher on a light supply. Slaughter buyers remained
active the day before the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Several complete dis-
persals were included in the offering and that provided a heavy supply of bred
cows and cow/calf pairs with some of very good quality. Supply was moderate
and demand good for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and
3rd stage 1085-1340 lbs most 800.00-1050.00, with several pkgs. good young
black from the dispersals 1100.00-1300.00, 1st stage 1075-1295 lbs most
750.00-900.00, from dispersals 1000.00; short and solid mouth to aged 2nd
and 3rd stage 1095-1300 lbs 675.00-775.00. Large 1-2  5-7 yrs 2nd and 3rd
stage 1400-1450 lbs 935.00-1100.00, 1st stage pkg. 1480 lbs 990.00. Medium
and Large 2  5 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and 3rd stage few 1028-1270
lbs 675.00-720.00. Medium 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and 3rd

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth
970-1325 lb cows w/babies to 350 lb calves and several rebred most 1150.00-
1400.00, some w/350-420 lb calves and several rebred 1425.00-1500.00, few
with newborn to baby calves 885.00-1025.00; broken mouth to aged 1100-1125
lb cows w/155-275 lb calves 875.00-1035.00. Large 1-2  7 yr 1400 lb cow
w/400 lb calf and rebred 1300.00. Medium and Large 2  aged 1090 lb cow
w/175 lb calf 545.00.
