MHS holiday royalty is announced

Monett High School's Miss Merry Christmas for 2011 is senior Mackenzie Lay. Her attendants are seniors Sophie Fulton and Maddie Schmidt. The 2011 Monett High School Miss Merrie Christmas and her attendants have been announced.

Senior Mackenzie Lay has been selected as Miss Merrie Christmas by a vote of the MHS student body. She is the daughter of Michele and Mike Lay.

Mackenzie has been very involved at Monett High School for the past four years. She is a member of FLBA, M Club, NHS, NTHS and FCA. Mackenzie is also a member of the Lady Cubs volleyball and serves as vice president of STUCO and as manager of the boys basketball team.

This year's Miss Merrie Christmas attendants are seniors Maddie Schmidt and Sophie Fulton. Maddie is the daughter of Pam and Steve Schmidt, and Sophie is the daughter of Sue and Jock Fulton.

Maddie is very active at Monett High School where she is a member of FBLA, M Club, YEP and NHS. She is also the secretary of STUCO and a member of the Lady Cubs volleyball team and Pizzazz Poms dance team.

Sophie is also involved in many activities at MHS. She is a member of FBLA, M Club, MHS and STUCO and is also a Lady Cubs track and cross country athlete.

The three young women will be honored during Monett High School's annual Christmas assembly, which will be held on Dec. 7 in the high school gymnasium beginning at approximately 9:40 a.m. The Miss Merrie Christmas Court will also participate in the Monett Christmas Parade on Dec. 10, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. This year's theme is "Home for Christmas."
