Monett Electric Department crews have been busy for two weeks placing Christmas decorations around town.

"It takes three to four weeks to take care of everything, including the streets, downtown and park," Utilities Superintendent Pete Rauch said. "Our goal is to have everything ready by Thanksgiving. We have all of the electric department personnel working on it, with the exception of the service man who continues to run customer service calls. Under most circumstances, that would be 10 men, including the foreman and the two-man tree trimming crew. It is a time consuming project, but I think it is so well received and appreciated by the community, and really, from the whole surrounding area."

Rauch said crews need about five days after Christmas to take the decorations down and return them to storage.
