Owned and operated by the mother-daughter duo of Mary and Ashley Denney, Tiny Hands Daycare is a licensed childcare center.
"I had a childcare home for 11 years," said Mary. "Then I worked with special ed students for the Monett School District for eight years."
Ashley babysat for cousins, nieces and nephews during her teenage years and worked at another daycare operation until the company recently downsized.
With a lifelong familiarity in dealing with youngsters, it seemed natural for the two to venture out and open a daycare center of their own.
"I love children," Mary said. "We thought about opening a daycare center for over a year. When we both found ourselves looking for work, the time seemed right to move ahead with our plans.
"We have art, science, early math, reading and writing," Mary said. "We combine social studies and community studies together."
Children are served breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
"We also have completed training on Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), CPR and more," said Mary. "As administrator, I also have credits in early childhood education."
Tiny Hands Daycare also has a mascot, Daisy Mae, a Shi Tzu-Dachsund mix, which at nine weeks, has some pretty "tiny paws."
"The children just love her," said Mary, "and she loves them back."
Extensive paperwork is kept on file for Daisy Mae's shots and veterinary care.
"We keep detailed records, because she is here with the children," said Mary.
Hours of operation for Tiny Hands Daycare are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Enrollment is now underway. The center is located at 416 Sycamore St. in Monett.
The program offers care services for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years, as well as before- and after-school options.
