Joann Witt

Wednesday, November 9, 2011

Joann D. (Boke) Witt passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 7, 2011. Joann was married to Victor Leonard Witt on Oct. 27, 1956, who preceded her in death on June 8, 2002.

Victor and Joann leave a great legacy of seven children: Vickie and Don Iman, of Pierce City; Leonard and Tina Witt, of Monett; Donna and Bob Neff, of Springfield; Richard Witt, of Marionville; Patrick Witt (deceased 1986); Sarah Witt, of Bolivar; Wanda and Mike Ast, of Monett; 18 grandchildren: Jason Iman and Morgan Hodges; Adam, Spenser, Jarred, Hunter, and Cameron Witt; Cliff Neff, Chelsy Powell and Chase Neff; Kendra White, Kristin Witt, Katie Witt, and Alex Witt; Lastacia Tottingham, Cassie Davis, Mackenzie Ast, and Whitney Ast; nine great-grandchildren: Jacob, Logan, Addison and Landon Iman; Blayne and Brylee Hodges; Emma Neff; Ryder and Rolan White.

Joann loved friends and family. She was a Girl Scout leader and helped with the cookie sales for many years. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, visiting with friends, spending time with family, and making new friends. She was blessed to be able to care for many of her grandchildren as they grew into warm, caring adults. Her humor, patience, and laughter brought a smile to our lives. She was a pleasant travel companion and always had a bag packed "just in case." She traveled to Army reunions with her husband, Victor, and continued to attend the reunions even after his passing. She was one of the great letter writers and continued to correspond with many friends on a regular basis. She was the mom that had the time to watch your kids for a couple hours and always had room for one more at the table. She opened her home, her arms and her heart to many and will be greatly missed by anyone lucky enough to have known her.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011,. at the Buchanan Funeral Home Chapel. Kenny Willcut, minister, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic School in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett, MO.
